Pophouse Entertainment—the Swedish firm co-founded by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus—announced on Thursday, March 19, 2026, that it has acquired a majority stake in the music interests of the late Tina Turner. The deal, struck in partnership with BMG, covers the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll's" extensive recording and publishing catalog, but most crucially, it includes her Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights. This strategic move positions Pophouse as the primary steward of Turner’s global brand, signaling a new chapter of high-tech, immersive storytelling for one of the most resilient icons in music history.

Pophouse, the creative force behind the revolutionary ABBA Voyage avatar residency in London, is rapidly becoming the industry leader in "legacy development" rather than just passive catalog management. While financial terms of the Turner deal were not disclosed, the acquisition follows a pattern of high-value investments by the firm, which recently secured the rights to KISS (in a deal worth over $300 million) and Cyndi Lauper. By securing Turner’s NIL rights, Pophouse has cleared the legal path to develop digital avatars, film projects, and immersive experiences that can replicate her legendary stage energy for future generations.

Recreating the "Visual Presence"

Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos emphasized that Turner was a priority for the firm due to her "incredible visual presence" and "stage energy." While Koravos stopped short of confirming a dedicated avatar show in the vein of ABBA Voyage, she teased that a series of "creative projects" are already in motion, with official announcements expected within the next six months. The goal, according to the firm, is to elevate Turner’s legacy to the same cultural "immortality" as icons like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.

"We are looking at projects that can portray that [stage energy] and try to recreate that to some degree... We want to ensure her work continues to resonate with audiences around the world." — Jessica Koravos, Pophouse CEO

A Collaborative Stewardship

Importantly, BMG—which initially acquired Turner’s rights in 2021—will remain a minority partner and continue to manage the day-to-day administrative aspects of the catalog. The Tina Turner Estate was also reportedly "informed and participating" in the conversations, ensuring that any future projects remain true to Turner’s spirit of independence and originality. This collaborative model is a benchmark strategy: combining the deep-catalog expertise of a major music company with the cutting-edge, visual-effects prowess of Pophouse and their partners at Industrial Light & Magic.

As the 12-time Grammy winner’s legacy enters this digital frontier, the industry is watching closely. The "Tina Turner Experience" of the future will likely transcend traditional streaming, using 4K restoration and digital likenesses to bring the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" back to the global stage. For the 150 million fans who bought her records during her lifetime, the message from Stockholm is clear: Simply the best is about to become simply eternal.
